CO soon to join *A. Impact within Canada?
Continental is now is Alliance purgatory, sitting out for a few days until the official joining to Star. I'm curious if anyone has heard any rumours or have insights into what changes, if any, Continental plan with service to Canada?
About 2 years ago they served YOW to CLE. That got dropped. Any chance routes such as this may return or start anew? I'm not a big fan of UA in Chicago and will walk before trusting my luggage to the folks of US in Philadelphia. Would be nice to have other options.
On the flip side, any increase of AC flights to CO hubs or focus cities?
Cheers!

Good to see some competition -- not quite YVR but SEA is close enough!

YEG is getting an extra MSP flight (2>3) in January on DL (NW) I believe. Probably a better option for connections, unless you're going west (but there's AS for that).
YWG has seen its DL (NW) flights decrease (5>4). I'm hoping it is temporary, but I'm not seeing any changes in Jan (lost the 7:30 flight out, 22:00 flight in).
In terms of CO, any thoughts regarding YWG's chances of getting IAH or CLE? I think EWR is very unlikely. Any rumors with new US service with the new airport opening next year?

It would be great to see a YEG-EWR connection or greater YYC-EWR service. I'm not sure how successful the AC service has been to date, but would be nice to see. Otherwise, the arrival of CO doesn't really help those of us living in the west/north unless we're looking to South America for connections via IAH.

As for CO and Canada, other than Texas/Alberta links, not much demand for other routes until the economy returns down south. Canadians may be traveling but Americans are not, making it hard on US carriers to serve this country.

This would be the second time DL left YEG in the past 20 years as they only reinstituted YEG-SLC about 5 or 6 years ago. They left in the late '80s the first time around.
The fares ex-YEG via SLC on DL were so stupidly expensive that it's no wonder they're leaving.
As for CO returning to YEG, I am delighted as I will give them the bulk of my $$ and the odd time I fly domestically I will credit my miles to OP.

MONTREAL Air Canada (TSX: AC.B) president Calin Rovinescu says the airline should gain new revenue after Continental Airlines joins the Star Alliance traffic-sharing program on Tuesday.
The new partnership with the world's fifth-largest airline will add 77 new destinations for Air Canada customers and provide the Montreal-based airline with more money.
"You look at this providing an increased service product for Air Canada customers and indirectly for us revenue," Rovinescu said Monday from Toronto, before he flew to New York for a ceremony welcoming Continental into the alliance.
Rovinescu said he couldn't forecast how much revenue is expected from Continental.

If you insist
. I think YTZ-EWR will happen under CO, as their Q400s are more competitive vs. PD than Jazz. I don't know if the limited US ATI would allow codeshares between CLE and YTZ, which might limit this service. If PD flew this sector, the ATI limitations would be lifted, and all bets are off....
