*A Turkish and Upgrades
Hi,
I'm new to this forum, so excuse me if i use the wrong language here.
I am *A Gold on Turkish Airlines. I fly mostly from Tel Aviv to West Africa (every month) and regularly to Western Europe, and maybe 3 or 4 times a year to NYC.
On Turkish you only get upgrade vouchers if you are Elite plus, even though Elite is gold status. It seems that on some of the other *A airlines you get upgrade vouchers as soon as you are gold. Would it be worth my while to get a different *A FFP, and start accumulating miles there? Can i use my Turkish card to get into the lounge but get the points on my other card?
I've only ever received an upgrade on Turkish once, and never on Luftansa, even though i fly them a lot.
Would appreciate any help that anyone can give me.

Welcome to FT and the *A forum, maanyen!
In every program, the main upgrades will only go to the highest level frequent flyer even when the middle tear is already *G.
And most programs outside the US are very stingy with their upgrades anyway. On Lufthansa for example, you get 2 eVouchers every 2 years and those 2 eVouchers are only good for a one way upgrade for a long haul flight.
The big exceptions here are the US programs like UA. They tend to give a lot of upgrades to their frequent flyers. But most of those upgrades can only be used on UA itself (some also for LH etc.). So there would be no point being an elite with UA if you don't fly UA or LH.
So the big question is, which airline do you actually fly? As a Turkish Elite Plus you get 2 upgrades per year but they are only good on Turkish flights. You can't use them anywhere else. If you fly TK often, maybe it makes sense to get to ElitePlus. It is 80k miles to qualify and 40k miles to re-qualify.
