Question Luggage storage at MAD

Looking for advice about storing luggage (probably one or two suitcases) in or near MAD.

Mrs secondsoprano and I are doing a RTW: SYD-LAX-NYC, time with family in USA, NYC-HEL-MAD, drive/train around southern Spain & Morocco for a few weeks, then MAD-HEL-SYD home. We plan to travel light on the Spain leg by leaving some of our USA luggage in MAD. Would you recommend leaving the suitcase/s at MAD luggage storage, or is there a better option (eg see if the hotel will keep it and then pick it up on the way back through)?

MAD bag storage is certainly an option, albeit not a super cheap one. I'd check with your hotel in MAD.

It’s cheaper at the Atocha train station than at the airport. I believe it’s 10 euros per bag per day at the airport (I just had one bag but I believe they charged per bag). At Atocha, there are different sized lockers, and a decent sized one is 5 or 6 euros per day. A very large one is like 10 euros a day.

I would definitely ask the hotel first, Most hotels would probably do this free of charge or for a very minimal charge if you are staying there.

There is a place called Lock & Be Free in Calle Jardines, next to Sol and Gran Via metro stations.
