This is a bit late but I hope you had a wonderful Honeymoon! We visited Spain earlier this year and used both Valencia and Madrid as a base - with some road trips to other bits around the area:
Valencia:
Hotel - we stayed at the Melia Valencia Presidential Suite - it was good, but built spoilt living in HK, the refinement was just missing a little - https://buddhaexplores.com/2017/10/1...-hotel-review/
Restaurants
- Restaurant Riff - fine dining - https://buddhaexplores.com/2017/10/2...n-food-review/
- Tasca Sorolla - Tapas, loved it! - https://buddhaexplores.com/2017/10/2...s-food-review/
- Taberna Jamon Jamon - really liked this one too, excellent service! - https://buddhaexplores.com/2017/11/0...n-food-review/
- Patapuerca Taberna Ibérica - for the ham lovers - family run too - https://buddhaexplores.com/2017/11/0...n-food-review/
Otherwise, the city itself is just very beautiful - everything is just a photo opportunity! https://buddhaexplores.com/2017/10/2...t-art-gallery/
Also, don't forget to visit the Central market as well - the restaurant in there is worth it. https://buddhaexplores.com/2017/11/0...m-food-review/
Sagunto - we made a road trip there as well and really enjoyed it - although the castle was closed on the day with visited, but the overall surrounding is just beautiful! https://buddhaexplores.com/2017/11/0...photo-gallery/
Madrid:
Hotel: We stayed at the Intercontinental Madrid - service was great and overall experience was good - although the design is a little dated for my taste: https://buddhaexplores.com/2017/11/1...-hotel-review/
Food: My main recommendation is Restaurante Mazarino: https://buddhaexplores.com/2017/11/1...d-food-review/
Art: Madrid is well known for its art museum - my favourite was by far the Reina Sofía - home of the Guernica: https://buddhaexplores.com/2017/11/2...photo-gallery/
Road Trips:
- Toledo - Beautiful town, even though it's a little touristy now - https://buddhaexplores.com/2017/11/1...photo-gallery/
