As an A-lister, I don't get much practice at T-24 check-in. Today I was checking in for family members and I decided to use the opportunity to do some research. Here's what I found.
First, you should prepare a few minutes before T-24 by logging in to MySouthwest and clicking on "View upcoming Air, Car, and Hotel Itineraries"
Your new window will show "MySouthwest - Itineraries - Future" in the blue bar at the top. The eligible itineraries will each have an underlined link for "Online Checkin". Right-click each one and open it in a new window or a new tab.
When you look at your new windows or tabs, you will see a URL something like this:
This new URL will work for about 15 minutes, then it will expire. You can reload (F5) it as much as you want during this time. You will get the "Oops" message until T-24, then you will get a check box and be able to check in.
Now what about custom URLs? First, if you had copied the shortcuts from the underlined "Online Checkin" links on your Future Itineraries page, you would have seen that they are of the form
This URL changes, all by itself, to the 15-minute expiring form including the disc string.
If you instead use a non-https Custom URL of the form
the URL changes to a different 15-minute expiring form
if you are logged in, or
if you are not logged in.
Whatever method you use, you have 15 minutes of refreshing before you have start over from the beginning. There is no method that bypasses the step of having to check the box after T-24.

Febr 25 BWI-SNA 16:55 T-24 A43
Nevertheless I had window bulkhead seat. The guy next to me had high C BP - proving my point: to have only a small carry-on is much bigger advantage than an EBCI or full price business ticket.
Febr 27 SNA -SFO 10:00 T-24 A-16 for Mr. Piross, A19 for me.
Proving my other point: do not pay ever for EBCI from SNA.

ABQ to SLC
T-24
A31 and A33
No through passengers on the flight, and flight seemed about 2/3 full. Didn't get exit rows, but no one took our center seat and the people in front of us didn't recline, so it was a good flight in my book!
I used EBCI on our return flight, and got A 29 and A 30. Pretty sure EBCI was worth it for that flight, however, as it was an almost full Sunday afternoon flight in the height of ski season...

Thanks for the links, nsx - will use them next time. ^
T-18? Blackjack tables were hot so late to the room to check in, thought I had EBCI and it wouldn't matter, glad I checked.

LAS-MDW 4:10 flight (hubby is my CP, he had EBCI and BP A24, since we are on seperate reservations, I had forgot to buy it for myself!)
B30
Had hubby board and take second to last row and save the middle seat for me (I know, he's a rotten seat saver, isn't he!). Full flight home.
