They are working to rebuild the network and get enough pilots so that all of their aircraft are actually flying first. That should be done by the end of this year. Perhaps next year we will see a new city.

Why? Looking at that list, there is nothing on there that screams "need to be served". If you are making me guess, I would go with JAC.

I'd like BTV, especially with today's news that B6 is discontinuing service there.

"The results matched Wall Street expectations." - Zacks Investment Research

Southwest Slows 2024 Growth as Demand Moderates

“As we move into 2024, we are slowing our [available seat mile growth] rate to absorb current capacity, mature development markets, and optimize schedules to current travel patterns,” CEO Bob Jordan said in a quarterly earnings release.

Southwest’s net income in the third quarter dropped 30% from a year earlier to $193 million, or 31 cents per share, while revenue advanced 4.9% to $6.53 billion. Adjusting for the impact of labor contract adjustments and other one-time items, the company earned 38 cents per share.

I was recently n MRY and the folks there were buzzing about that WN had been in and out of the airport several times.

I'd like to see WN give EWR another chance. I could also see XNA, TYS, or even PBG if they tried to capture the Montreal market.

WN seems willing to serve PAE as soon as it can get enough gate space, which isn't possible with the current terminal.

ANC might be the next new city, especially if WN decides to fly from there to SEA in addition to the likely choices of LAS and OAK. G4 has even made seasonal BLI-ANC flights work and AS has done PAE-ANC, albeit on QX.

RST, Rochester, MN would be an idea

Mayo clinic is here and it's about 90 miles south of MSP. Currently the only daily flights out of RST are American to ORD and Delta to MSP so basically it's an open market.

There are 3 shuttle services supplying about 36 daily roundtrips RST/MSP so the demand is obviously there, just no flights.

RST would serve people in Southern Minn, Southwest Wisconsin and northern Iowa.

RST to ATL/MDW and DEN set up easy connections to all of the 48 states.
