My Southwest Strategy
I always book in the Flights at the price that I want to pay. For Instance flying from Vegas to LA I found a later flight for the same cost to avoid early morning departure. From San Jose to LA a few days later I found a flight later in the afternoon to again avoid an early morning flight. I had $10 flight credits so I just paid $10 more .
This goes to show that hawkers can find better times without a big fare difference

...and they're not sophisticated enough to realize early flights are less likely to be delayed. And first flights of the day have no throughs. And might just be cleaner.
But those are all second order effects, and not to be considered when waking up early is the undesirable alternative.

"This goes to show that hawkers can find better times without a big fare difference"
Perhaps the hidden meaning lies in the definition of "hawkers?"

I noticed that as well. Clearly there is something deeper going on here. As referenced in a previous post, where's Scotty when we need him most?
