1. What time does the plane start boarding in SJC? Curious if they allow more time for boarding due to the larger plane. I'm traveling with kids and expect a large spring break crowd in April.
2. Just to confirm, a previous poster mentioned that people are held 50 minutes before departure time for the USDA inspection? For the return flight, I don't want to go too early and end up waiting.

1. Expect boarding at about t-30 minutes. WN has more than two hundred B738s and is efficient at boarding 175 pax.

2. WN shares a common waiting area at KOA with AA and UA. USDA ropes off the waiting area until 45 minutes or so before the next airline's departure. IOW, depending on AA/UA flight schedule you might have to wait to get in or not. Plenty of seating between TSA and USDA.

Thanks so much! I believe United and Alaska flights are departing at the same time. So it doesn't make sense to go too early as they would not open the agricultural inspection. Seems like its going to be impacted with at least 3 flights leaving the same time.

WN reported Hawaii load factors were like 91% in 2019. You guys can't judge from a couple of January flights during the lowest season of the year...

Sorry to the user that encountered that nonrev. Nonrevs are supposed to board in their assigned position, unless they are jumpseating or eligible for preboarding, extra time, or family boarding.

Planning to book WN for HNL-OGG soon, but was hesitant given the setup of WN gates at HNL as discussed in this thread. We prefer doing carry on bags, so having to go to baggage claim is not a concern, and will be returning our Hertz rental at HNL. Seems like flying WN out of HNL is reasonable if we aren't planning to deal with checking in luggage?
