I believe all Airtran 737s transfered to Southwest were 700s.

The younger, lower cycle -300s have the new interiors, winglets, and are getting extended overhead bins. I've even seen two with the new paint scheme.

I was on a plane last night out of DAL ( great redo to that that terminal ) . The plane had a console at the front like the 800's - this was clearly not an 800. Was this a former airtran plane? It did not have Wi-Fi. It was definitely not a 300 since my overly large carry-on fit in the overhead front-to-back.

Sounds like a -300 with extended bins. The -700s all have floor-to-ceiling bulkheads whereas the -300s and -800s you can see the forward jumpseats from the cabin. Do you know what the flight number was?

This is correct, and they will all be receiving wi-fi.

Southwest has been acquiring 737s from other sources, no telling where it came from. If you have a tail number it would be pretty easy to track down.

My understanding is that the Airtran planes were converted to the Southwest standard, but I can't confirm that.
