Hey now, no need for snide on either side. I book speculative trips on WN and AS myself, and have - on occasion - failed to cancel in a reasonable timely fashion. Sometimes it's because I'm hoping against hope I make it through MCO security in time, and sometimes it's because I got completely sloshed and didn't wake up until long after the flat tire rule might apply.
Edit: somewhat sloshed now and managed to hit submit prematurely. More to come...
