Southwest Raised Fares Again Today

I surfed around on some trips yesterday, and went back today and all of them were up at least $10-20 roundtrip. Seems like WN is becoming the leader in raising prices -on a weekly basis.

Why does it surprise you? Oil prices have gone up $20 in two weeks...

Maybe they are raising to match the other carriers that are raising theirs recently.

RT coast to coast flights on BS have now reached $988 round trip. So, after tax, it's now possible to spend over $1,000 with WN on a single rt ticket.

Did oil (priced in dollars) go up? Or. did the dollar (priced in oil, cotton, gold or SWA fares) go down?

Well seeing as government overthrowing has become popular in the middle east lately, I'm thinking the oil has gone up.

Do any of these explanations tell us why PIT-AUS is $142 RT on CO and $142 each way on WN?

Let us not forget:

well, if you want to take a glass half full approach, under RR2, every time the fares go up, you get more points

Or glass full empty...no RR points but more segments and miles on someone else.

UA/CO is having a sale on Texas flights.

PHX-SAT is $205 R/T (a.i.) on some dates in April, DL matched (within $5 each way), but no one else did. WN and US, the only airlines that fly the route non-stop, dropped their fares from $169 each way to $129, but that was it.

Needless to say, what was to be my first flight on WN in almost a year has become yet another on UA/CO.

Absolutely absurd!!!!!

Yesterday I booked 2 RT tickets TUS-PDX 5/11-5/15 and paid 624.60 for both tickets.

Just went out and checked today, same days, same flights, guess what:
$817.60. That is a mere $193.00 increase. I was going to calculate the percentage increase, but my calculator overloaded, too much to compute !!!

What more is there to say

WN has already raised the $142 PIT-AUS OW fare twice, first to $144, then to $154. Last night around fare update time there was a discrepancy between the calendar ($154) and the flight quote page ($144), indicating the fare was in the process of being changed.

Call it the RR 2.0 surcharge!

Yeah, as of last night, that $129 PHX-SAT price I quoted is now $180+tax. Delta still offered it for $104 a.i as of last night.

I am going to Chicago memorial day weekend. Southwest was a LOT more than Delta returning on that monday returning from MDW to DTW. Not a hard choice as to who to use on that trip, especially with RR 2.0.
