Atlanta (Same Day Flight trip)

Any ideas on if I want to leave Atlanta in the morning flight and go somewhere nice for lunch/brunch/dinner and return after dinner? I am at a loss but need to plan this special day thanks for sharing your ideas^

Are you coming in ATL in the morning and leaving after dinner?

Not sure about your budget.. I recommend one of this group.

Any ideas of type of food? Type of atmosphere? Do you like trendy, romantic, historic, southern, ethnic, any hints?

One of my favorite places to eat lunch is Canoe. Great food, great service, right on the river.

thanks for the responses, poohhead80 and MissJ. I am planning on coming in to Atlanta on Friday evening to meet up w/ friends. Then Saturday I want to take a special friend out for the day who has cinderella hours (we can potentially leave early in the morning but she needs to be home Saturday by 11:59 pm). Budget is no more than $1500 for now for the day Theme could be adventurous, trendy or cultural. We could leave ATL in the morning and need to be back in ATL by 11:00 pm with a fun few hours anywhere in the world. I hope this clears any confusion; I come in to ATL on Friday PM, leave ATL on Sunday PM. The question time period is Saturday 5:00 am - 1159 pm.

thanks for helping out this lost in ATL person

daytrip to NYC is possible (hundreds do it every day), or DC, or anywhere in FL for the most part. What kind of food/experience do you want?

If you do NYC, for example, you could depart ATL at 8am-ish, get to LGA at 10:30 or so. Cab it into town, walk around a liitle, have a long leisurely lunch anywhere, depart 6pm, arrive ATL at 8:30. (there are earlier departures and later returns during the week; these times were for a random Saturday on August.)

Have fun!
