Wrong! Did you notice the little box in the Quick Reply section that you can check to include a quote?
Edited to add: Oops, I intended but forgot to check the little box to include the quote! |

Ok, so let's sum up all that we've learned in this thread:
[one thing I didn't learn was how to do bullet points, so I'll have to use numbers instead] 1. The Quick Reply box allows one to reply more quickly. 2. The Quick Reply box includes a check-the-box for those who want to quote the post to which they quickly are replying. 3. The ceilings at JAX are 9' high, as a result of which passengers should consider flying elsewhere and driving should they need or desire to be in the Jacksonville metroplitan area. Am I leaving anything out? |
Can someone explain the advantages of using the Quick Reply feature, as opposed to the "classic" Reply? Exactly how many nanoseconds does one save? (They do add up. A nanosecond here, a nanosecond there, and pretty soon you're talking about real money at Blumie's billing rates.)

I really suspect ceiling height and erroneous claims of distance won't defer people from flying into JAX if in fact they have to go to JAX. Vs. say, ATL or MSY and then driving that distance you had to walk.
Cheers. |

Jeez. Your really DUMB. Plane's dont go INSIDE terminal building's. Everyone know's that.
For the OP: I don't anyone going to the JAX area avoiding it simply because of the things you mentioned. I am also confused. If they are getting rid of the terminal in 2009, why recommend avoiding JAX for 22 months? I haven't been there since leaving my ship and the Navy in Mayport, but if I have a need to be in the area, it seems a bit far to drive from Daytona. |

While discussion is certainly to be encouraged here, I doubt many would avoid taking a trip somewhere, or inconvenience themselves on said trip, just because a particular airport was substandard. Most would, I think, accept it as a cost of the trip and deal with it. Your post, though, does help to set expectations so that people won't be too disappointed if they do fly to JAX. Always good to have expectation levels set appropriately.
Even though ORD is further from downtown Chicago and might be more expensive, I'd probably never use MDW due to severe lack of amenities. Similarly for a trip to midtown, Manhattan. While EWR might be closest, I'd prefer JFK for the nice FL and the cheaper public transport to midtown despite the lengthier trip. Plus, EWR sux. :p |

Of course the severest lack of amenities at MDW is the lack of flights (at least on AA). Any idea how high MDW's ceilings are?
I've refused to fly DL there as well. :p However, the track lighting at the ORD FL seems to hang at about 7.5-8 ft. ;) |

If you are flying to Florida destinations other than Jacksonville or the immediate area, or if you strongly object to unduly low ceilings, long, encumbered walks or "brew pubs" operated by the purveyor of Miller Lite, you may want to use another airport. Additional facts -- AA operates only two gates, and they seem to be the farthest from security based. The waiting area is windowless and compares unfavorably to the Rector Street DMV office. |
