St Pete Beach Hotels

Hey all!

My cousin is getting married at the Tradewinds St Pete Beach Island Grand resort and spa in Florida next month.

Anyone familiar with this property? Checked out a few reviews and they said it was overpriced for the rooms and service quality. The hotel is not offering a discount for the wedding and will be about $450.00 a night for a two bedroom suite which I will be sharing with my mom and her boyfriend.

Any other properties we should check out? My mom's boyfriend is Marriott Platinum, I am Priority Club Gold and HHONORs Silver. Any suggestions?

It won't get you Marriott or Hilton points, but I'd be remiss if I didn't recommend the old classic Don Cesar resort.

If you want to make the most of the Marriott Plat satus, the Renaissance Vinoy Resort & Golf Club is the nicest Marriott in that area. Unfortunately, it is not a beach front property, but it is next to the bay.

Did you try the Tradewinds Sandpiper? It's next door to the Tradewinds Island Grand. It should be cheaper.

I live here and I can tell you that nothing on St Pete Beach is worth $450.00/night. I have often found that when booking through the hotel chain's website, you are not going to be done any favors, and in this case, it looks like you're being way overcharged.

I would not go with the Vinoy, as it is miles from St Pete Beach, however St Pete Beach has PLENTY of hotels. Try Travelocity, Expedia, or Hotels.com and select the option to view the results on a map. You will be able to pick a reasonable hotel within walking distance of the Tradewinds.
