Security in FLL

Is it possible to go from one terminal to another at FLL without going through security like MCO and TPA require?

Nope...you can't even get to another "wing" or whatever to grab a bite to eat. I'm not familiar with the airport at all but I couldn't leave the gate area without heading through security on the way back in and I didn't have time for that.

FYI: FLL is one of the worst for security. I've been through when they were not only making people take off their shoes, but also remove any other shoes they had in their carry on and put them through separately. YMMV.

When I was about to leave what I thought was the secured area I asked a TSA agent standing there if I was indeed leaving the secured area. At no time did the agent turn around or even turn her head to look at me...she just said, "Read the sign!"

I replied, "There is no sign" and asked, "Where is it?"

"You should have read the sign when you came through security the first time."

"I didn't go through security here at FLL, I just got off the plane."

"You need your boaring pass and ID to go back through security"

This all made me and others walking by laugh

Simple answer is that all four terminals at FLL are not connected to each other by airside walkways, so if you're changing terminals, you'll exit security as you leave your arrival terminal and have to go thru security again as you go to the gates in another terminal for your next flight. Shoe removal at security in FLL seems to be SOP in all terminals, and security lines can be long depending on time of day or if you're travelling on holiday periods.
