MIA Global Entry during connection

Connecting domestic through MIA on AA to Turks & Caicos. My wife needs to change her name at the Global Entry Office near Terminal J, it looks to be outside of terminal J landside of security. Am I reading the map correctly? I'm not sure which gates we'll be entering/departing from, my layover is 2 hours. If I have to go through security again in MIA regardless it may be worth it to hopefully make a quick trip to the Global Entry Office but I'm hesitant to leave security otherwise. I'd certainly like to get her GE updated if feasible to avoid long lines on our way home through customs in MIA.

You will be landing at basically the exact opposite end of the airport to J Terminal, by the LH counter. There is the MIA mover but you do have to exit airside then back through security. I interviewed GE there 5 months ago and it was fast and painless. You could always make a pitch for this when you arrive back: https://www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-t...llment-arrival

Also, they still require an appointment for any entry into their office due to Covid as of 4/1/21. I wouldn't trust that you would be in and out quick enough, and you are connecting domestic to international, so boarding starts/ends a lot earlier for an international flight, so you may not have the time anyway. Is this a honeymoon trip? I wouldn't change her passport until after the trip so her GE could still be used using her current passport.

It can probably be done on your way back by the CBP officer who checks the GE generated slips or at the GE Enrollment on Arrival booth.

Not honeymoon, but our first time needing to use Global Entry since the passport has been changed. I'll try the GE on Arrival (the GE office never answered my email asking if this was possible), do I need an appt or any documents outside of the normal name change doc?
