Connection Time in Mia

Flying in from Toronto to Miami to catch a connection to Rio De Janeiro. Currently my flight from Toronto arrives at 11:01 PM and the one for Rio leaves at 11:59 PM. Originally my Toronto flight was suppose to arrive at 10:39 PM. Does this give me enough time to catch my connection or should I contact American Airlines to change my flight to an earlier flight?

See the FT Wiki on the AA MIA Minimum Connection Time (MCT) thread, which says the official MCT is 1:20. There's probably discussion there which would help you decide if you're ok with 58 min, but my guess is you should get it changed.

If everything works great, you'll be fine. But I wouldn't count on everything working fine. I'd change it.

Hi thanks for the advice. I gave aa reservations a call and they changed me to an earlier flight and even tried to look for availability on tam for an earlier flight to gig all for free.

The reservations agreed that 58 minutes wouldn't be sufficient time to connect in case something happened.

Where this fell down of course is that you would arrive from YYZ as a domestic passenger, so no need for customs, immigration or security rescreening.

So its more like a Domestic->Intl connection than an Intl->Intl one...
