Baton Rouge dining help

I'm here for another month or so and need guidance on good restaurants. Yelp helped me find Parrains, but I can't eat there every night. And I've gotten good and bad recommendations from some of the locals.

I want to avoid national chains, but am not adverse to local chains.

Other restaurants that I did like: Zea Rotisserie and Doe's Eat Place (neither as good as Parrains).

Am happy with Cajun, steak, American, seafood (as long as there are non-fried options).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I've had decent meals at Ralph & Kacoo's on my work trips to Baton Rouge. They have a number of non-fried seafood (and other) options. Mike Anderson's is in a similar vein.

A short drive down I-10 is The Cabin in Gonzales.

Seriously, if I were stuck there that long, I'd be making the occasional 1 hour drive to New Orleans.

Coyote Blues on Acadian (Mexican) - Great - (Steak and Duck meal items are superb)
Superior Grill on Gov't (Mexican) - Great

Tony's seafood - Great (Seafood/Cajun) - Can only get food to go and its not in the prettiest of areas but its safer than it looks. They often have police there but not for protection but to direct traffic because this place can get busy.
Lagniappe on Perkins - Great (Seafood/Cajun) - they have won some awards if I'm not mistaken, limited operating hours
The Chimes by LSU or on Coursey - Great (Seafood/Cajun) - part of same company as Parrain's
Walk-on's in Town Center - Good (Seafood/Cajun/American) - nice for watching games
Mike Anderson's - Good (Seafood/Cajun) - they give you a lot of food
Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro - Good (Seafood/Cajun/American)
Ralph & Kacoo's - Good (Seafood/Cajun/American)
Acme Oyster House - Good (Seafood/Cajun)

The Rum House - Good (Caribbean) - New Orleans restaurant that expanded here, great drinks. Their staple is variety of Caribbean

18 Steak - Heard it was good (steakhouse) - It's in L'Auberge casino and supposed to be good. I rarely go on that side of town (no need to) and I'm not big on casinos so I never ventured into it.

FYI - I live in BR

Thanks mrfrancis3000.

Interesting that you mentioned Walk-ons and Chimes. I've been to both and won't go back.

Walk-Ons can be real hit or miss, because IMO it's more of Cajun "bar" than it is a "restaurant". They have these "Cajun" quesadillas and loaded waffle fries that I love but I very rarely venture off from those when I go there. The Chimes, the service can suck tremendously but the food is usually good.
