Questions about MIA immigration, transiting on an AA international flight

I am wondering what the current average time to clear immigration would be, landing into MIA mid-afternoon on an AA international flight with a non-US passport.

I would be connecting to another AA international flight, and saw some reference (but no more) to special transit lines at immigration. Do they exist an, if so, are they actually any quicker ?

In the old immigration hall it was always best to use the queues at the far left end as they were shorter and gave a chance of being waived through into the Diplomatic line if it was not occupied. Is there any similar tip for the current immigraiton hall ?

Its such a shame that the AA 5* Service can no longer fast-track the immigration process, but are they still able to jump the customs line as in times of old ?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Though this seems nominally to be about AA, it is about MIA and the USCBP times - so it has been moved to the appropriate forum. Please check this thread for some recent experiences.
