Question Machu Picchu

Requesting information regarding Lima/Cusco/Machu Picchu.

When is the best time to go (we have about 7-9 days)? Is an organized tour recommended (at least private guided)? Is it worth driving from Cusco to Aguas Calientes? Is it better to stay in Aguas Calientes as opposed to the hotels at the ruins. Any other information would be greatly appreciate. E-mail OK to [email protected]. Thanks to all.

Much of this can be answered by spending five minutes reading a guidebook as well. You can't, for instance, drive to Aguas Calientes. Train or on foot only. And there's only one (very expensive) hotel at Machu Picchu itself.

As was stated, you didn't do much homework. I would definitely spend a night in Aguas Calientes if for no other reason to be able to get a ticket to hike up Huanya Picchu, which I did last week. Just incredible views.
