MDE back to back

Hi All.

Is Back 2 Back possible at MDE? Two one-way tickets on AA arriving at 8:15PM and departing on AA at 12:50AM the next morning. I've noticed that AA's website said mobile boarding passes are OK but wanted to confirm whether airside transit is possible or would I have to clear immigration and customs?

Disclaimer: I have no experience post-covid, nor on flights other than Copa. I have never tried an I-I connection there, but I vaguely recall seeing signs for international connections upon entering the immigration area. MDE is a relatively small airport and the airside facilities are rudimentary. It's just a big waiting area with chairs and a snack bar and some typical retail shops. It's not so great landside either, but it might be a more interesting place to spend a few hours waiting. The entry and exit process is fairly efficient.

I know this is old, but if you still need an answer, it is "no." You will have to go through immigration.
