SA-E Same Day Standby and Baggage Tranfer at JNB on SA
Hello, SA Voyager Experts!
Flying SA Express GBE-JNB, connecting to MS onward to CAI. My connection time is 1:05, which seems pretty aggressive based on my limited experience at JNB and my extensive experience in flying on the last flight of the day on any route.
So, two questions:
1. Can I stand by for an earlier flight and is there a charge for that? I'm UA GS/*G, but I assume that means nothing if there's not a lounge involved.
2. If not, what are the odds of my luggage transiting to MS in time to make the outbound?
Thanks for your help!
Timothy

That is a short connection. If our flight ex gbe is delayed by 20 minutes your bags and possibly you won't make it. Allow 2 hours for a connection.

Follow-up question on this thread.
I'm flying JNB-WDH on an award ticket in J with SAA. Long layover as I couldn't see space in J on the earlier flight. What is SAA's policy for standby on an earlier flight? I see reference to standby on their domestic flights, but none on int'l.
Thx.
