I have a reservation in late October. Not sure what to expect in terms of weather; I'm wishful for a winter storm so I can watch the snow from the luxurious sanctuary, but it's likely too early.

I'm glad to hear that your wish came true, even the snowstorm, which is quite a rarity this time of year.
I almost envy you: you had the chance to fully enjoy what I would call a true "hotel experience": relaxing in your suite, unwinding in the peaceful spa, sipping a drink by the fireplace, and indulging in the various activities on offer.
In this case, the hotel itself becomes "the destination," while the beautiful landscape serves as a scenic backdrop.
I'm looking forward to reading your review.

Has anyone tried booking a standard room with points and asking if the hotel will allow a 3rd guest? Wondering if I could just pay an extra fee vs. having to upgrade to the two bigger rooms, which might be costly.

It's available, I just checked. Everything has a 2+ minimum stay and sometimes it's 3+ or 4+.
The SLH site is easier to navigate to find the minimum stay requirement https://slh.com/hotels/eriro

When they first mass-loaded the availability for next year, even the peak dates had just 2-day minimum. A week or so later they changed to 3+ days. If I had 2 FNCs ready to go, I would have booked it again without hesitation. At 200k/night, I decided against it (for now).

Glad to finally see reviews and some winter pictures from Eriro. A few months ago, when I booked our stay for early March, I was anxious about the lack of reviews. If anyone has any experience with what the skiing situation is like there, I'd be interested to hear about it. Otherwise, I'll leave a review once our stay is over.
