RTW with DL and KE

I am looking to book a RTW ticket (either paying with cash or miles - not sure yet). Looking for one of two options:

RNO-SLC-ATL-PRG (DL)
PRG-ICN-SFO (KE)
SFO-RNO (UA/DL)

or

RNO-SLC-ATL-PRG (DL)
PRG-CDG-IKA (AF)
-overland-
ICN-SFO (KE)
SFO-RNO (UA/DL)

Neither Delta's nor Koreans site seems to allow RTW bookings with any logic. Looking for suggestions of the best way to go about arranging this.

This probably should be moved to the appropriate RTW forum.

Just an observation. With currency changes you may want to consider starting your trip in ICN...I know that with a OneWorld RTW that can mean almost 1/2 off.

None of the SkyTeam carriers allow for reasonable RTW bookings online that I am aware of. A TA or the 800 number should be able to do it for you no problem.

Also keep in mind that a RTW ticket requires three stops. Your itineraries appear to only have two (PRG and ICN), unless SFO is a real stop.

You wish to go overland from Tehran to Seoul? That would likely not be an overland in the pure meaning of the word; or do you plan to travel through Noth Korea?

Well, yes, overland, and to North Korea, but not across the DMZ...

Iran to Pakistan to China, then into North Korea, back to China and either by ferry or air to South Korea. I know there used to be a China->South Korea ferry but not sure if it is still running.

The real trip is Tehran to Pyongyang overland... but ICN is the closest point to get a SkyTeam return to the US and onward to Europe.

You'd pick the alliance partner forum, in your case the SkyTeam forum.

You are definitely allowed to have surface segments in RTW itineraries but I'm not sure if there is a max distance like on an open jaw rule. That might mess things up for you.

Also consider returning to the USA from one of several airports in China that have service, unless you really also want to see S. Korea, which it doesn't seem is the case.

Please continue this discussion in the SkyTeam forum. Thanks for your understanding.

Sounds like a "worst countries of the world" grand tour. I'm sure it would be very interesting (not to say dangerous) but you had better leave plenty of connecting time to answer questions from Homeland Security upon your arrival back in SFO.

Also to consider, you cannot use any American carrier's miles to book a flight to Tehran...

Plenty of ferry options from China to Incheon at this moment, most departing points are in cities near Beijing. There are also ferries from various points in China to Japan if you are interested. Of course, there are also daily ferries between Korea and Japan, in case you want to lengthen your overland tour by a little bit.

This isn't true. CO miles can be used to book flights with partners to Iran as long as the trip originates and terminates in the USA.
