Im confused????!!!!

Just reserved two (2) RTW itineraries that looks like this:
EWR-TPA-IAH-HNL-GUM-CNS-SYD-ICN-BKK-ICN-LHR-EWR

I'll be flying 30,472 miles and with ground mileage from CNS-SYD, shouldn't be more 2000 miles. They are pricing out a ticket to be $5796.50 each before taxes.

Am I missing or lost somewhere in the translation that the price for one ticket should be around $4500?

Issuing via Continental and it would be economy class.

I agree it looks a bit expensive, but I don't have access to the fares.
Just out of curiosity, why are you flying BKK-ICN-LHR and not BKK-CDG-LHR, or even BKK-AMS-LCY? I know a few extra miles can never hurt, but flying in the back of the bus I'd definitely try and shorten the longhauls a bit!

Currently, CO RTW fares (w/o taxes) in economy are (according to expertflyer)

- USD 4569 if less than 29000 miles
- USD 5187 if less than 34000 miles (probably your case)
- USD 6011 if less than 39000 miles.

This price is valid if you book it today. Maybe they have higher prices if you start your trip at a later date.

My God, that is expensive...

Not to rub it in but I just paid $5400 including taxes for a RTW in D with OneWorld ex JPT...

A DONE4 ex USA (I think you need) would be $4400 with AA and possibly require an additional 10% in taxes.

JPT?! Did you mean CPT, perhaps?

A DONE4 ex USA is $9100 plus taxes. I believe you meant a LONE4, correct? (the LONE4 is $4400 plus taxes)

Well, it needs to be cheap enough to compensate for the LHR connections and near total inability to get to/from/between Africa!

I'd go via ICN too... KE in Y is quite a bit more comfortable than AF or KL.
