Just glancing over the ST website and noticed it says:

Single check-in
You only check-in once when connecting to other SkyTeam airline flights. ****

**** With a maximum of two SkyTeam airlines in your itinerary, and a maximum of three connections.

On my ORF-JFK-CDG-HAM, the DL ORF check-in lady informed me I would need to re-check in with AF once I got to JFK. Then at JFK AF people dont show up until about 2pm, leaving me landside at JFK for 6 hours -_-. On the way back this wasnt a problem. Is there any reason for this?

Once it was finnally time to board AF JFK-CDG, I spent 5 minutes reasoning with the gate agent that I was allowed priority boarding. Why do they even bother to have a sign at the gate which says something to the effect of "Priority boarding, Skyteam Elite"

And why does DL taunt you by allowing you to choose your AF seats on delta.com, but then when you get to the airport there are no such seat reservations....

Alliances are a good concept just as long as they actually implement what they advertise!

I will say the HAM gate agent was very accomidating giving me exit row even though my French is less than desirable

Well I can't say my experiences checking in for multi airline Star Alliance trips was any better. This just seems to be something that none of the alliances really have a handle on yet.

Priority boarding seems to be really hit or miss too. Outside of the US I don't see it very often like we're used to here, though I've never had to argue with an agent to board with or right after business class on the occasion that I have to fly in coach.

From my experience, the only alliance where the airlines actually seem to be "allied" is OW. My priority boarding has been respected on the five airlines other than QF I've flown on it. Every time.

Even getting e.g. DL, UA, SQ to credit points for flights on their alliance partners is like squeezing blood from a stone. Sadly - AF and SQ economy are fantastic.
