There is no SkyTeam excess baggage policy alliance-wide. Sorry. The issue is discussed in some detail in this thread.

Thank you. I wasn't sure. I guess I will have to through check my bag from BKK to HKG to AMS , with the first leg on TG in Business class.

I'm confused by your post now. Were you planning on picking up the bag in HKG and then checking it back in? Through checking it should work just fine, assuming the itinerary works and TG is willing to do that for you. how were you going to check it half-way?

I have a ticket BKK-HKG on TG. From HKG, I have a seperate ticket on KL to AMS.

My e-ticket receipt said 20kg allowance. Anyway, I thru checked my bag from BKK to AMS. It only weighed 23kg as I had packed a carry on since I was staying the night in HKG.

But interestingly enough when I did on line check in tonight, the KL sector showed up as being allowed 30kg !

So has something changed? So it looks like I can off load the extra carry on as checked luggage to AMS after all! Its a little heavier now with some extra shopping in HKG!

It looks like you get the Extra baggage allowance with KLM. There is no Skyteam-wide agreement on this, but KLM and NW is an alliance in itself where there are closer agreements on upgrades, baggage allowances etc.
