If you want upgrades with miles (or for free) your best bet is flying on Copa via PTY. All Copa flights are eligible for mile upgrades from the OnePass program, as well as EUAs at the normal OnePass upgrade window.
The flight timing isn't great, and the PTY-MVD flight is 7 hours on a 737, but that's the best SkyTeam option available.
