SU seating

I'm flying on a DL award ticket. Is there any way to pre-assign seats?

Sure -- just call DL to get SU's record locator, then call SU ...

Except you will not know where bulkhead or exit row seats are, since they have 4 different configurations on their 767-300ERs. However, they can assign exit row or bulkhead seats to anyone, regardless of status. Although, its an oximoron, since you dont know which plane you will be flying on until the day of departure

Just pray you don't have to sit next to a drunk Central Asian. That's the worst.

How is it any worse than sitting next to a drunk East Asian? Or a drunk European? Or a drunk American?

I can see how the "drunk" part could be "the worst," but what does a person's land of origin have to do with whether they're a decent seatmate?

I think you having to live in Kyrgyzstan (I believe you fly to and from FRU a lot?) made you a bit bitter? Well, just to let you know, Aeroflot flies to 89 more cities in 46 more countries, and from all the flying I have done on them, its a pretty decent carrier.

Also, border-line racist comments such as that (and I do believe it is inappropriate) are not welcome on Flyertalk.

Yeah, I'm stuck here until July. I wouldn't say I'm bitter, only disappointed in the disaster that is the ex-Soviet Union, living among a populace that has little desire or ability to improve their lot.

No racism intended, I've just had the pleasure (?) of sitting next to 3 vodka-riddled Central Asians during my last two flights in/out of FRU. Not a good experience.

Maybe SU should introduce a "no drinking section", kind of like at sporting events. LOL

It's definitely not the first time I see that phrase in your posts. One has to wonder if you have actually been anywhere in the ex-Soviet Union outside of Kyrgyzstan and SVO2 portside?

Well, let's see (I've just included the places I've lived for more than six months--typically I have to travel throughout the countries due to the job, so I just list where my residence has been):

Fulbright Scholar, Tashkent, Uzbekistan
NGO Consultant, Almaty, Astanta, KZ; Ashgabat, Turkmenistan; Dushanbe, Tajikistan, Bishkek, KG
Administrative Director, Study Abroad Programs, St. Petersburg and Moscow

I just love reading posts from Soviet apologists. I would suggest you come over here and talk to the people who lived through communism, as I do daily.

Oh, I lived through communism, too (born and raised in Moscow). I don't talk to myself daily though.

P.S. For someone who so evidently hates his time in Central Asia you do seem to spend an inordinate amount of time over there

Absolutely, I have lived through communism as well (born in Moscow as well). I do, however, talk to myself daily

However, if GuyverII really dislikes that part of the world, why be miserable and not to switch to a better locale?

Guys, I apologize for coming off like a d*ck. The short of it is because of my line of work I have to do my time here. There are many things I like about Central Asia, but since I'm down in the trenches it really wears on you, as from your experiences you could guess.

More importantly, my wife is Uzbek...she wears the pants around here. So being close to home for her is important (even though I can't get a visa back into UZ due to the political situation )

Off for an ice-cold Siberskaya Corona and some shashlik.

Again, no disrespect intended.
