Status miles on AF flight and redeeming miles for AF carribean flights

2 questions:

which programme is best for collecting AF miles in cheap booking classes like L or V? CO gives miles for all buckets but only 50% EQM but NWA and DL 100%, since i might do 2 or 3 transatlantics maybe silver would be in sight - do all ST members have the 25000 miles threashold for silver and one year validity of status?

Is there a skyteam programme that allows a eco booking Europe- Central America for 50000 miles? Since I am taking my wife and only my 700 Eur trip will be paid, I was wondering if it is a good idea to trade 50,000 miles from Lufthansa Miles and More on coupon connection... Does one have to pay all AF surcharges when using US-airlines' skyteam miles?

The "mini-miles" system with AF allows for a Europe-Mexico award flight in Y (50,000 miles to be used) either with AF or AM direct, or through a stop in the USA using the American partner airlines...
