Elite + Lounge Access

I'm having trouble finding the answer to this question:

Next month, I'm flying Delta in BizElite to LGW and back from BCN. Because there are no Skyteam nonstops from London to Barcelona, I'm flying a bargain-basement Iberia flight from LHR T2 to BCN. I'm not flying any Skyteam segments on the day I'm flying IB.

As an Elite + member will I be allowed to access the AF or AZ lounge the day I'm flying Iberia?

Not likely

Assuming they actually adhere to the rules, you will not get access.

International First and Business Class passengers as well as SkyTeam Elite Plus members traveling in Economy Class enjoy complimentary access to most SkyTeam partner lounges worldwide. Simply present your same-day ticket for an international SkyTeam airline flight. As a SkyTeam Elite Plus passenger, you can even invite a guest to join you in the lounge.
I added the emphasis above, but you can see that they should require a same-day SkyTeam ticket for access.

also depends on the lounge dragons.. if the onwards flight is on ST,
some may make an exception... but its a long shot.

very unlikely you get access to the AF lounge(serving all Sky team members). Also the staff in it does not belong to AF so it is more difficult they show simpathy for your Elite +,

you should get access to an 'arrival' lounge as well ... go figure usually works.

I bet they'll not let you in--apart from the BE segments. They're good!

Would work if the OP was flying on IB the same day, but he states that he is not, so it would be a different day, so not likely to work very well.

Given an arrival into LGW in DL BizElite, using DL-arranged arrival facilities should work somewhere around LGW. Flying IB the same day or next day doesn't matter because IB is neither a SkyTeam carrier nor is the OP flying business from LON-Spain.

not clear when the OP is flying out of LGW. If he/she arrives overnight and just connects to IB the OP should get lounge access ... however, if there is a stopever in LGW ... chances are slim.

Thanks all for your replies. I thought I did make it clear that I'm traveling on an open-jaw routing from JFK-LGW and back BCN-JFK. To get to Barcelona via Skyteam I would have had to connect in CDG or MXP/FCO, something I wasn't willing to do, so I decided to spring for the coach seat on IB.

My understanding is that I'll have to sweet-talk the staff at either the AF or AZ lounge in LHR's terminal 2 (where IB flies) that day... show my Delta business boarding passes and my Platinum/E+ card... and hope for the best.

AZ lounge staff at LHR T2 are likely going to want to see a same-day departure SkyTeam-coded/-operated boarding pass at the very least (unless you get someone willing to let you in anyway). Where/how will you get a same-day SkyTeam departure boarding pass to show to AZ lounge staff at T2? Or will you just show them an e-ticket itinerary/ticket?

I won't. All I'll have is my boarding pass from two days earlier, DL001 JFK-LGW in J. Or my itinerary showing DL95, BCN-JFK, also in J, a few days later.

Obviously I'll just have to hope for the best...
