Eligible or not? E+, KL codeshare+MH
Hello,
I tried doing a search on this and could not find any info on this. Also was not sure where to pose this question here or at the FB (KLM) forum.
Anyway, my question is, as an E+, and flying with a KL number but MH operated flight checking in at the MH counters, would it make it than eligible for any Skyteam E+ member to use the Business/First class check-in? This is for check-in for a MH operated flight from AMS-KUL.
Recently, I asked the supervisor on duty that day about checking-in at the Business/First counter as an E+ member BUT not FB elite, I was told that it was not possible, even though check-in was done by KLM staff and ticket with KL number. I did not want to argue with him about it cause I did not have any hard facts to back that up. So ended up with a long long wait at the economy line
Though later I saw that he was moving people from the economy line to the business and first class counters when they were empty. Was rather mad cause I was already standing at the other counters which was the furtherst away from it. I felt that if he had been more accompanying, he could maybe have allowed it as the counter was freed up.
Was thinking of bringing this issue up with KLM and FB about it, but just wanted to be sure that I was right or not.
Thanks.

Why did you ask
If KL is handling the check-in they will for sure let you use the C-class counter, if you are FB Plat. MH-operated and KL-coded flights will earn miles and even EQMs on FB. Technically, if you go by the FB rules, this perk does not exist with MH.

Nope,
It is the operating carrier's (MH) rules that apply. As an E+ ST member, you have lounge privleges on Skyteam OPERATED international flights. Codeshares will get you miles, but that is about it.
Cheers
