Question AF Flying Blue or NW WP?

Greetings from steamy Singapore.

Apologies if this has been covered earlier. I have tried a search but not seen anything specific, and D time is approaching.

As you can probably tell I do most of my flying on OW, but have some long haul AF J class sectors coming up. I am not sure where to credit the miles. I am considering both Flying Blue and the WP program. I have zero status with both of these, and don't have current plans for any further travel with them, although that could of course happen. I do have some points in the WP program from a couple of years ago, so guess I am leaning in that direction. On the other hand, I don't spend much time in the US these days, but do spend time each year in Europe.

Any recommendations on which program to opt for, based on credit of miles toward status levels and awards?

Thanks in advance,

tb

Since you are in Singapore I would recommend WP over FB. WP redemption levels intra-Asia are about half of FB. I just used 30k miles to fly C on MH NRT-KUL-HAN-KUL-NRT. Asia-based WP members also get lounge access for Golds and Plats, which US based members do not get. It seems WP offers many more bonus offers and even temporary Gold or matching elite status for Asian members on a regular basis.

FB does offer web-awards for 50% off certain award routes and only 40k needed to reach Gold, but discounted fares only earn 25%. Their customer service is also quite poor.

If you can reach 40k EQM, I would go with FB (since you are gold with 40k and ST Elite+ = lounge access!); else, go with WP, better for Asia.
