ST Elite Plus: lounge access when flying to Canada?

One of the benefits of ST Elite Plus is access to 'most' ST lounges when making a same day international connection.

For this purpose, does a flight from US to Canada count as international? Obviously it should, but has anyone been successful at doing this? I'd be trying to use a PC in EWR and a WC in DTW.

Are we sure about that? I thought that 'international' for the purposes of NW elites meant "outside North America." I know it applies for oneworld, thought Skyteam was doing the same thing.

According to the FB terms and conditions (and, I would assume, NW), there is NO access to DL or CO lounges when flying within North America (US, Canada, Mexico and the Carribean) if you're not a WorldClub member. However, some agents don't always know or apply the rules correctly so you may succeed in Newark. If you were FB Plat, you would have access in Detroit (access is now allowed on ALL NW intineraries, including domestic) but since you're NW plat, I think you may be out of luck. Interesting that, in this case, it seems that it's better to be an elite with another program instead of a "home" elite since besides lounge access FB plats also qualify for complimentary upgrades on NW as well as pre-boarding, elite check-in, etc.

It is a yes if you travel on NW and are a FB Elite Plus member. I did it in a MSP-SEA flight.

As specified in this thread
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=528372
It is not a SkyTeam deal, only an agreement between NW and FB.

FB Plat gives you upgrades on NW?
As far as the lounge thing, *A has the same thing.

yep, EUA works beautifully ^ All FB Elites get upgraded on NW, like CO Elites.

So to clarify...

A NW Plat (SkyTeam Elite Plus) will not have any access to any clubs on a HNL-YYZ R/T ticket, even though it is an international itinerary?

worked like a charm

My outbound PDX-EWR-YUL was on CO; no upgrades, so I sat in Y. In EWR I showed the PC agent my Plat Elite card and online boarding pass (which conveniently said "INTL" across the top). First she asked if I had a club membership, but then when I mentioned the SkyTeam alliance she asked me to wait while the computer found the right program. She was able to look up the details in real-time, even reading to me that "you are allowed to bring in 1 guest." Enjoyed the EWR club near gate 100 early on a Saturday morning - free wifi and a few munchies with a fair view of the City.

My return was YUL-DTW-PDX on NW. I was EUA'd on both legs. In DTW, I presented my BP and Plat Elite card to the WC agent. She immediately said, "You're good 2 different ways: you're in F on an international flight, and you have Elite Plus status on an international flight." She obviously was very familiar with both benefits.

My experience has been that club agents often need to be reminded of the Skyteam benefit. I carry around a printout from Skyteam.com of the benefit for Elite Plus members, including one in Spanish for travel to S. Am. It has been a useful reminder for agents on more than one occasion.

You DO have access.

STE+'s have access to the appropriate lounges on the same-day as an international flight on a skyteam carrier. International means international, not "outside North America" or some such.

When I was Plat, I used the DL CRC at LGA for a LGA-YUL flight without any problems, for example.

I was denied access to the Skyteam lounge on HKG - NRT flight. I was told it was because my plat card was a US domesic card.

Assuming you were flying NW metal, the lounge attendant was wrong. Asia NW Golds/Plats do indeed get WC membership as a perk of their status (while North American NW Golds/Plats don't get that benefit). But your plat status ALSO means you have Skyteam Elite Plus status, which gives you access to lounges based on a separate set of rules. Next time, make sure you tell them to look up the rules for Skyteam Elite Plus, and not for NW Plat.

I would write to WP with date and time, there are still too many lounge dragons with no clue
