What was the reason? I can understand why they did not want to make these codeshare, but why wouldn't they sell seats to Delta as they would to any other customer?

As I've already answered: AF wanted to avoid brand confusion, nor did it think DL had the wherewithal to properly market the services. DL eventually gained access to F-inventory, but AF held out to the very last day on Concorde.
