Best cities to visit as a tourist
What are the best cities to visit (using Skyteam airlines, to keep it relevant to this forum)? I nominate the following list:
1. Berlin. The quintessential european city, with better architecture than London or Paris, museums on par with the Louvre and the British museum, and great vibrancy.
2. Hong Kong. Great food, scenery and shopping. Plus a different perspective.
3. Capetown/Johannesburg. Exotic africa with amenities and low prices thanks to the rand devaluation.
4. Portland (Oregon). Quintessential west coast (green, wet and beautiful with the Columbia gorge and Mt. Hood nearby, yet having urban charms superior to Seattle and restaurants that match the best in San Francisco).
5. Anchorage. Only for 6 months of the year, though. Actually that is unkind, it is only 20 below most of the winter. But the good times more than compensate, it is a special part of this planet!
6. Montreal. More fun than Paris (really!), thanks to better food at the average restaurant and lower prices. Much of the same "joie de vie".
Maybe not the best list, but all nice places to visit (and served by Skyteam airlines). And cities that I have enjoyed and been surprised by.
