Aeromexico Bag fee when SkyTeam Elite Plus
I had a bag fee when flying from MEX-LAX on Aeromexico using a Delta Skymiles Classic(not basic) award ticket. I was charged a bag fee. When I mentioned I was skyteam elite plus with another airline, the agent hesitated but said I still had to pay the bag fee. Is this correct? JW for future. I thought skyteam elite plus would get free bag in this instance.

they are right. on all economy fares from mexico to the US you have to pay for checked bags. this also applies to economy flex fares which might include award fares..

The SkyTeam elite perk to get an extra checked bag for free applies only to fares where you have at least one free checked bag in your fare. You won't get an "extra" bag when your fare does not come with free checked bags.
Travelling in business class comes with free checked bags.

Here is the exact wording for SkyTeam elite benefits regarding bags
as the fare class you purchase does not have any bag allowance you can't have an additional bag according to your purchased fare allowance.
