KLM 777 vs AF A380

Upcoming trip to South Africa and wondering what is the preferred aircraft. We will need to connect in either CDG or AMS and the times do not make that much of a difference. Unfortunately, we'll be flying in coach but able to book an Economy Comfort if they are available on either of these aircrafts.

Only KL offers economy comfort that is similar to DL. AF has premium economy which is a different product/cabin which needs to be booked directly and cannot be simply added to your Y ticket

A380 anytime...

But not only because of the plane. The KL is a day flight, which IMHO is a waste of time. AF arrives in the morning, and you have a whole extra day to your trip.

On the way back, however, if go for the KL flight, which leaves later than the AF flight, and gives you more time in JNB.

Is the AF Premium Economy worth the extra cost? Currently it's about an extra grand per ticket. Based on the A380 seat map, looks like it is 2X3X2 configuration on the upper deck.

I'd say it's worth it for a night flight, because it's more comfortable (although not quite a bed)... But it depends on your budget, really...

1 grand usd extra for a return flight usa-cdg-jnb all legs on AF in premium eco? If yes, I would say it's worth it given the long legs. The upper deck is very pleasant and flying A380 also a great and silent experience.
