Flying Blue status match ?

All -

I am a US based Diamond on Delta. Within the next year I will be moving to France. I'm wondering if anyone knows whether it is possible to do a status match with the Flying Blue program....

Thanks,
FD

Chances are zero when there is no general status match. You can keep using your DL benefits on AF.
Check the Flying Blue forum as this exact situation has arisen before.

FB normally does not do status match, and they never do it for Skyteam members AFAIK. You might wish to stay with Delta as you can collect miles on AF flights with Delta, and their program has quite a few advantages over FB. If you absolutely want to switch to FB, you can use your DL benefits parallel to building up status with FB.

In general, airlines will not match from any program in the same alliance.

This is because your existing program status already gives you similar/most of the benefits that your requested status would.

There is no need to change programmes just because you are moving, particularly if it's only a temporary move. Even if you do want to start collecting in the Flying Blue programme (and if you are not familiar with the programme, it's not a particularly good one) you can still use your Delta card to claim benefits while earning to FB.

But only switch to FB if you know exactly what you are doing, and have a really good reason for doing so.

Changes in DL from 2014

I have the same problem. FB refuses to match my DL status.

I keep using DL but the problem that from 2014 (towards 2015) status they start accounting for spent dollars (they call it MQDs), which I no longer have because I mostly fly within Europe.

The only option is to build up status with FB and use your DL perks while doing so.

Remember that those with legitimate foreign addresses are exempt from the MQD requirements for status, as is anyone who does $25,000 spend on a (combination of?) DL AmEx credit card during the calendar year.
