SkyTeam JFK-FCO/VCE-JFK - DL or AZ?
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has had recent experiences on either DL or AZ from JFK to FCO? We will be traveling from JFK to FCO nonstop, then VCE to JFK nonstop, and pricewise it's pretty much a toss-up. The VCE-JFK flight is going to need to be DL regardless, but we have an AZ option (on a 777) or a DL option (on an A330) for the JFK-FCO leg. We will probably also upgrading for the carrier's economy "premium" seats, if that is a factor.
Which would you choose?

AZ has its own Premium Economy cabin with their own seats. DL has just Economy seats with slightly more legroom. It's two completely different products. I would go for the former, but that's a matter of personal priority (as AZ Prem Evo will probably be more expensive).
Note that for AZ you have to book Prem Eco straight away. It's different from DL, where you first buy Economy and then pay on top for about 4 inches of extra legroom. This does not work with AZ. It's really two different products. Compare the prices and have a look at the seats on the AZ website and decide if it's worth the extra money. (If the price happens to be the same, it's a no brainer IMHO.)

Thanks for the replies - the additional info is very much appreciated. benzemalyonnais - when you said that the DL 330's are inconsistent, did you in fact mean "bearable" in economy or "unbearable"? just curious because of the phrasing.
