Booking Skyteam from SE to US
Can someone school me on the best option to book a one-way award tix from SGN to IAH?
Datapoint:
*100k with Skyteam, no status
*65k with Vietnam Airline, no status
Timing is flexible, probably travel sometimes in July. My goal is to minimize points usage so economy is probably okay.
Alternative:
*100k with United
*100k with British Airways.
Thanks in advance.

Delta prices one-ways as round-trips, with a phantom return in the same class of service and low/medium/high band. Thus a low coach ticket one-way from Southeast asia region to US-49 could be 80K Delta miles.

Lots of Delta SkyMiles carriers for award travel can't be booked online, or can't be searched easily across flexible dates on delta.com.
I believe that SGN-IAH may be one of the rare Asia-US city pairs allowing routing across the Atlantic by virtue of an Air France fare filing. I would look for SGN-CDG-IAH at a coach classic level on the Flying Blue search engine www.airfrance.us and then call Delta to book. I expect the experience will bring incredible frustration.

. So, what carrier did you decide for your booking? Which routes did you decide to take for your trip?

Hey Dalat,
Not a lot of choices as I'm looking to fly in the third week of July or early August so no saver award available on UAL. I have options of flying economy BKK-IAH using United miles and SGN-BKK using my VNA miles. Another option which is attractive at this time is SGN-ICN on I class and then ICN-LAX on O and then get an award ticket LAX-IAH with Delta or BA. Downfall for 2nd option is the 10hr layover in ICN.
I'm all ears for other tips. Cheers.

You may want to consider BR (Eva Air), a new member of *A, from SGN to either SFO/LAX/SEA/JFK (JFK requires long layover & transfers to EWR for IAH segment) and UA to IAH. Their award inventory will not be displaced on UA website. Do you have an UA office in SGN? Do you have a local phone number to book your award ticket? Here is one of the links regarding booking an award ticket on BR with UA miles, http://boardingarea.com/onemileatati...n-eva-airways/
