Is the AF A380 worth it?

Are you doing separate trips, an open jaw, a stopover, or what? If you're returning from LHR, I'd do LHR-CDG-IAD just to simplify the CDG transit as much as possible. IAD-CDG-AMS is going to require clearing immigration in CDG and probably a dozen terminal changes with confusing signage.
That said, I just flew CDG-IAD-ATL instead of taking one of the CDG-ATL non-stops so I could ride the A380 (Y seat on the UD) and thought it was great. Much quieter than other planes. I returned straight to LHR on a DL 764 and it was noticeably noisier.

Unless it is REALLY worth to do IAD-CDG-AMS because of the A380. But CDG is indeed very confusing to get around.

If you've never flown the A380 it is probably worth the experience. It's an impressing plane after all. Afterwards you can decide if you would prefer a direct flight on your next trip.

Even in coach, the AF A380 is a sweet ride. The lighting is quite nice, for one thing. Plus, if you happen to collide with another jet on the tarmac, you will kick that jet's butt.

I'd guess you'll be fine, so long as there are no public transport strikes in the UK (that's right after the Olympics, so I would guess that the Government will be keeping the unions in line then) and there's not some bizarre AF strike impacting intra-European routes but not TATL ones. Should be one of the easier CDG transits to make, since I don't think they use buses on flights inbound from LHR since the UK is not in the Schengen zone.
