Korean Air or Delta?
Hey Guys,
Which one should I put SkyTeam miles?
I live in U.S, So I thought that Delta is better, but seems to be most of the Delta flights are kinda pricy for its service.
Thanks in Advance!

it depends right? where do you go often? I travel to Korea frequently so Korean Air makes sense for me. Frankly i believe KE offers better service than DL anyway. if you do a lot of US continental domestic flight, well KE isn't going to support you there.
but again, KE has hotter stewardesses

Newbie poster here, but I was wondering this as well. Was hoping someone could answer my question here. It seems like for a flight from LAX to INC the miles required on korean air is only 70k skypass miles vs 125k delta skymiles (I have about 40k miles on each). So it seems its easier to get a free ticket to korean using skypass? Also is it possible to use 70k delta skymiles to get a korean air ticket? Sorry for all the questions

Skypass miles are a lot harder to earn - so the 70k figure is deceiving (Many KE fares do not earn miles or earn partial miles)
I am not sure how the availability is, but even 120K on DL may not get you too far - as "low" mileage availability is tricky to find...
and sadly - no exchange of delta miles for KE miles (unless you use points connection or points.com kind of service)..

unless i am mistaken, i think you missed the question. it wasn't a question of exchanging delta miles into KE miles. It was rather can the poster use his delta miles to purchase KE airline ticket. the answer is yes. However you cannot combine miles from both airlines to buy one ticket. say if you have enough delta miles, then you certainly can buy KE tickets...
only question is.. would delta accomodate to your needs
they are notorious for making your life miserable.

If I'm not mistaken... both KE and DL are part of SkyTeam. Also, being in the U.S., your sole miles program should be DL Skymiles and you'll get miles for flying KE or DL and you'll rack them up under one program, Skymiles. That way, if you ever book a flight on delta.com using your miles, they could very well book you on a KE flight, or AF for that matter. (I'm 97% sure of this being that I used miles to book a flight to CDG and delta.com booked me on an AF flight)
while this is certainly true, if you take a time to read through mile buzz section, you will notice many complaints against delta airline in its award booking policy. Korean air is very straight forward, i have used it many times.
Hence it depends on what your iten looks like. if you travel often on KE, then KE is worth it because their morning calm is good for 2 full years.

read through some of the stuff written in this website. i am learning much as well. it's most profitable if you convert those miles into business or first class tickets than simply economy tickets. or what i prefer to do with KE, as they seem to have decent stock of these upgrades available is.. buy upgradable economy ticket, and then use miles to upgrade.
it all depend on what your needs are. I am still in my late 20s so i prefer to fly economy seats (seating next to grannys pass time very quickly. those 14 hr rides from US to asia becomes instantaneous). I donate my miles to my parents, so they can enjoy more comfortable rides by getting 1st class or business class free tickets from KE.
As to KE or delta, it is my assumption that delta miles are easier to accumulate. Henceforth they charge more for their "free" tickets.

I think the major issue for people trying to decide on which airline to credit is what they will be doing with the miles/status afterwards? Regardless of whether this fits the OP's original concerns, I've noted the following in general:
Since both are in ST, presumably the elite benefits are relatively the same. However, how one can spend the miles is the bigger concern.
Consider the earning capabilities with each program, is it faster or easier on one vs. the other.
Consider the award redemption requirements, which one can be redeemed easier, or has less mileage requirements for a similar itinerary (case in point, Delta has increased intra-Asia redemptions tremendously, is it in line or far above what KE requires for the same routes).
Most importantly, what does the individual plan to do with the miles? Redeem them for roundtrip tickets in Y, in C? Or use them to upgrade themselves from a paid Y fare to C?
FT'ers here fall into many different camps; some fly enough and regard the benefits accorded with their status as the most important concern (i.e. access to premium support, special consideration during irrops). Others are more into what the miles they earn can be used for later on (one FT may use it for upgrades and another use it for award flights).
