SkyTeam Offers Lower Fares with Round the World Promotion

In conjunction with SkyTeam's 10th anniversary, customers may enjoy discounts of up to 30% on Round the World fare passes.

(July 8, 2010) - To celebrate its 10-year anniversary, the SkyTeam airline alliance is currently offering customers a special promotion using the Round the World fare pass with reductions between 5% and 30%. Bookings can be made until September 30, 2010, and travel should be completed before June 30, 2011.

With the SkyTeam Round the World Pass, customers need only one ticket to travel around the globe. All 13 member airlines participate in this offer and travelers can plan their trip through the entire SkyTeam network using a selection of carriers. The Round the World Promotion provides further fare discounts on the regular SkyTeam Round the World fare pass. Depending on where the trip starts, customers can get up to 30% discount on the price. The offer applies to both leisure and business travelers. Customers can contact their ticketing SkyTeam member airline reservation center or a travel agent for details and bookings.

Below is an example of how a customer can save up to approximately $1,300 if a SkyTeam Round the World fare is booked through Delta, using additional SkyTeam carriers like Korean Air and KLM:

Atlanta - Delta - Cincinnati - Delta - Los Angeles - Korean - Seoul - KLM - Amsterdam - Delta - New York - Delta - Atlanta (total 18072 miles)

LRTWSKY3 - USD $4569.00 plus USD $452.24 = total USD $5021.24

URTWSKY5 - USD $3250.00 plus USD $452.24 = total USD $3702.24

Conditions

Booking must be made before September 30, 2010
Travel must start on/after July 15, 2010 and on/before December 31, 2010
The maximum stay is 6 months, the minimum stay is 14 days
A maximum of five stopovers is permitted
Total travel miles may not exceed 20,000 miles (except for travel originating in Kenya, in that case 22.000 miles is permitted)
This special fare cannot be booked online

Where did you find that pricing example?

The SkyTeam website is the only one of the three alliances who can't price out a RTW for you, and their press release just gives the mysterious 5-30% off range
