Looks like one of SkyTeams biggest players are accepting the new commer! This would mark VN into a very important alliance partnership! But the down side is that DL would have to drop it's flights from March.

"Delta has plans to join code-share flights with Vietnam Airlines, which also operates the Ho Chi Minh City-Tokyo route, according to Deltas sales representative in Vietnam, East Sea Travel Group"

Months ago Delta acted to drop the NRT-SGN service in March. That is not a new action.

Given the current tussle over JAL, not sure how much significance should be attributed to them starting code-sharing on Osaka-Hanoi
