Sixt wrongfully claiming damage
During Easter, I rented a small car from Sixt at ALC. The car came with +/- 10 itemized damages on the vehichle which were provided to me one one of those long strips of thermal printed paper. There were no drawings with visual indicators, just a list in German, on an otherwise English rental contract. Anyway, I routinely take pictures on my phone of all visible dents and scratches, to be sure. The car had a very visible red scuff on the back, and since there was an item for the back of the car on the list I thought nothing more of it.
When I returned the car, the attendant threw one glance at the car, I signed, and off I went.
Now, a couple of days later, after receiving the final invoice, I receive an email from Claim-ES, with a picture of the red scuff, notifying me of a claim. They send me a link to a web form, where there is no other option than accepting the claim. I obviously do not fill out the form, but reply to their email, attaching the picture with the state of the car as I picked it up where the scuff is clearly visible. The date and time of the picture is in the picture information. I do not accept their claim.
A few days passes, and then Sixt replies back. Theyve taken the trouble to make an illustrated itemization of the damages of the car (clearly not the same I was given at check-out, as both the format and contents differ), and reiterating their claim. There seems to have been put little effort into reviewing the exhibit I sent them.
Now, I have CDW insurance on my credit card, and my financial exposure to this is limited. On the other hand, Im SK*G and have a Platinum status with Sixt, and Im not about to let them fabricate a claim in this manner.
What are your thoughts and suggestions on how to take this forward?
