Sixt policy when reserved class is not available?

Recently reserved an 4 series "or similar" (think it is RTAR) at LAX. Upon arrival was told they had no RTAR inventory and offered me a mustang

Ultimately ended up with a 3 series with 20K+ miles on it at a "discount" but honestly the rate looked worse than what I could've gotten when I booked. What is Sixt's official procedure here? Seems like inventory is not tightly controlled vs. reservations so what is a customer to do?

In my experience the policy is to give a downgrade without explanation and when questioned, say it's an upgrade because it costs more (e.g. an estate) and that it's not their problem. (I've had that exact routine about 6 times now)

The same thing happened to me at LAX offered downgrade with price adjustment. I ended up waiting for the reserved car class to show up and got a voucher from Sixt Corperate for the inconvience. Needless to say that was my last rental with Sixt in the US until they get their act together.
