Angry Never Got an Upgrade.. Ever!

Hi,

I have been a Sixt Platinum Holder since almost 10 years. I was surprised to see recently that platinum allows you to get an upgrade. My fault for not knowing but in all my years of renting, I have NEVER been offered an upgrade. Should not the locations be offering me this? I finally realized and asked a lady at Sixt Barcelona airport. She refused me an upgrade, without offering me a reason.

Has anyone else had this experience?

Hi KSahni,

I am very sorry to hear about this!

Please could you send me a private message with your Sixt Platinum card number, and I will be happy to look into this for you.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Many thanks,

Gary Caudwell.

I think you only get an upgrade as Plat if you rent 20x per year.

**Subject to availability, not valid for long-term rentals, special cars, motorcycles or trucks. The possibility of receiving an upgrade is only valid for up to 12 months from the issue date of the card. This advantage remains when you rent more than 20 times per 12 months with Sixt.

Upgrades - only if you are frequent renter

Yes, there is a rental minimum per annum to receive upgrades.
If do not meet that requirement it displays your status and am remark line: not eligible for free upgrades.

Should not one be downgraded from Plat status if one does not meet the requirement? I mean what is the point of being a Plat if one does not get the perks? Seems redundant.

If you don't rent 20x times, you are pretty much downgraded to Gold. Sixt is just too lazy (or don't want to incur costs) to send out new cards reflecting your downgraded Gold status.

It looks like Plat qualifications have dropped to 10x for residents of Belgium, Spain, France, UK, the Netherlands and the USA.

How long do you keep upgrade privileges after qualifying for the 10x rental for US residents?

For example:

Let's say I had 9 rentals in OCT 2013 and 1 rental in AUG 2014.

Does this mean I get upgrade privileges until AUG 2015 or merely until OCT 2014?

Thanks.

There would be More Information necessary, such as was any of them a Business rental and when was the Plat Status Awarded. Therefore only Sixt will be able to answer that
