Walking across the street isn't that bad. In fact the distance is smaller than the diameter of some casinos.

On google maps I measured 1300 feet (400 meters) crossing at the cross walk.

Just made a reservation for a LCAR in Sixt Vegas for the end of October. Renting the car for a full week. Does anyone know what car models can I expect to get?

SIXT at LAS

Here's my review of SIXT at LAS. Was my first time renting from SIXT anywhere.

The online reservation experience was excellent, as was the online registration for their "express" program. With two days advance notice, I reserved a compact car for one day, $35 including all taxes. Very competitive in Las Vegas at the moment. I received an email reminding me of my rental, and urged me to make sure I was registered for their "express" program so that I could quickly pick up my vehicle and avoid any lines.

As with all rental car agencies, you take a shuttle from the airport to the Las Vegas car rental center. SIXT is located a very short distance from the rental center (it is not in the rental center), it's almost across the street, you could easily walk it, or they have a shuttle that stops at Stop #4 at the rental center, for the 2 minute ride.

SIXT has their own building, from the exterior it appears very nice, and the interior is even better. Great flooring, waiting area, great paint job, and they offer free water and soda while waiting. There are 4 counters, when I arrived, and I was first in line, there was only 1 counter occupied (at 9 am), and I waited 10-15 minutes; the customer rep was slow (I swear all car rental customer reps are slow...). I did not see any express rental counter.

The rep asked me for my drivers license and credit card, he did not ask me any other questions (nothing re fuel, coverage, etc.), eg he took all the information from my online registration. The entire process at the counter took all of 3 minutes. They do have rental cars parked out in front of their building (that's also where you return the vehicle), but my vehicle was parked around back (it apparently was reserved for me), and the counter agent personally went and retrieved my car and brought it around front (now if I was standing in line, can't say I'd be thrilled about that type of staffing arrangement). He walked around the car with me to check damage, gave me my keys, and I was on my way.

My general comment was that it was a pleasurable experience compared to any of the agencies in the car rental center itself. The building was very welcoming, someone did a great job on the design. My agent did tell me that notwithstanding the information online, the Las Vegas location does NOT yet have an express counter, he said it would be about a month. Given that, if there's any kind of line, you're goin' have a good wait to pick up your vehicle, regardless if you've joined their express program. Having said that, if I had to wait, I sure would prefer to wait at SIXT inside their building, than waiting at FOX (horrible) or inside the car rental center self.

By the way, I was given a brand new Honda Elantra for my compact reservation.

All in all, given the price, the atmosphere, the nice setting, and how I was treated, I was very surprised and pleased. If there was any deficiency, it was how the agents were organized in their functions (counter person taking the person outside to check out the car), and my observations of their speed in handling others who apparently had not completed the information in advance online.

From my experience so far, I highly recommend SIXT at Las Vegas, both from a pricing standpoint, as well as the entire experience.

*Also, forgot to add. The paperwork (booklet, actually) that comes with your contract is unlike any other car rental company I've used. It's a nicely designed booklet that explains the terms and conditions of your contract, and has a pocket for the contract itself. Nice touch, and is consistent with the building design and the overall Sixt experience. It's not the substantive information in the booklet, it's just a good feel that you're not at your usual car rental company. Someone was thinking.

I had a similar experince at Sixt in LAS last week.
Two complaints though.

1 - They were slow to take care of the two folks in front of me, so I ended up waiting almost 30 mins. Once I got to the desk, I was done in under 5 mins. Not sure what the issue was.

2 - The van that takes you over to the Sixt building is a little unusual. When I was waiting on the van to be picked up, the driver stopped and let one guy out and then tried to take off with several of us waiting. One guy had to jump out and flag him down to come back and get us.

I may give Sixt another try but I think I still prefer Nationals system of walking straight to the vehicle.

yea, and I'd add...

The two counter agents I saw, including the one that helped me, looked like they just graduated from college and were new on the scene, so perhaps it's lack of experience if they don't have a pre-filled form and they have to go through the "whole spiel". Come to think of it, the other employees I saw coming and going all looked pretty young.

Funny re your comment re the van. For me, it was stopped in the middle of the road by Stop #4, and the driver was sitting in there, head down, obviously looking/playing with his cell phone, oblivious to anything else. I stood in front of the van trying to catch his eye, when he finally looked up.

I will say this, once they get their express counter up and working, one would have to be nuts to head all the way south to the Fox OFF OFF site location, where they have no such express counter, where the physical facilities are pathetic compared to Sixt, and where the agents attitudes toward renters are as unfriendly as you can get. If you want to see people breaking down in tears and testing the limits of human control, go to the LAS Fox location in the summertime, when it's 115, on a Friday. With Sixt's nice facilities, ample waiting room, free refreshments, competitive rates, and promised express counter, makes zero sense to board that Fox shuttle on the long ride down Las Vegas Blvd, South. And no, I'm not getting paid by Sixt, just enjoying a breath of fresh air in the car rental circus in Vegas.

I rented from here today. What a terrible experience. Despite four (sometimes five) counter agents working, it took over 30 minutes to reach an agent. No express lane for platinum members or people who had pre-reserved. When I finally got to the counter (I had reserved a full size car), they had none left. The agent offered to give me a Tuscon. I don't like SUVs so I declined. I then mentioned my platinum status (and supposed double upgrade) to see if maybe they had BMW or Audi or Mercedes (afterall they tout their german cars all over their website). The Agent had never heard of platinum status and went and checked with supervisor. He finally came back and said, yes, a double upgrade was a benefit, but still no cars. After a lot of digging around they came up with a Volvo S60. The car had no license plate. Instead, they taped a registration on to the windshield, which obstructs the view. The car looks very tacky and unprofessional with a piece of tape holding up a piece of paper. Then I start the car and the flat tire light is on. I go back in and the agent says not to worry about it, the light will go off eventually. The light goes off, but the car shakes terribly on the highway. I would go back, but I'm only here three days and don't want to waste another second with the incompetence at that location. This was my first time renting with Sixt and will be my last.

Honda doesn't make the Elantra.

The taped registration is how it's done in Nevada (and California FYI)

Great experience

Booked a PCAR with sixt throught easyclicktravel.com for LAS in OCT 14. Rate was great, some $280 for 10 days including all insurance - which is the key point since I'm from out of the country and don't have any car insurance whatsoever. Easyclick's description was MB CLA 250 or similar but in fact received a Chrysler 300, which also is a pretty nice ride. I apparently checked in late and therefore missed the MB.

As previous poster described the experience is great from walking in to a well furnished modern building to the nice ladies serving you cold drinks etc while you wait.

No hard selling extras at the counter at all, in fact I was the one that asked for extras (to cover any insurance gaps) which of course there weren't any.

The only issue I had was having to get the shuttle from LAS to the car rental center and again getting their shuttle to take you literally across the road to their own center.

Other than that, highly recommended. Going back to LAS this month and will book the same again.
