Serviced apartment recommendations
Looking for some recommendations for a short-term serviced apartment. Need a two bedroom for a 5-day visit later this month. Prefer a location that is convenient to tourist sites and restaurants and has a swimming pool. Budget is 200-250usd per night so that eliminates the Ascott and Shangri La. There are a couple of properties in River Valley that seem to meet requirements, but i have no idea about their location. Thanks.

The Somerset chain is good value
The properties are a little run down at the edges (slo-o-o-ow lifts...), but the service is good, daily maids and helpful front desk etc, and locations are great. In particular, the Somerset Grand Cairnhill is just behind Orchard Road - a hop and a step from Somerset MRT, half way between Centrepoint and Tangs. Basic breakfast included too - nothing fancy, but nice to have the option of toast, cereals and boiled eggs - get there early before the kiasu vultures descend!

Thank you for the recommendations. Hotel occupancies appear to be quite low right now in Singapore, so I kept delaying my decision on which serviced apartment to stay at.
In the end, the procrastination paid off, as I found a great stay one get one promotion at the Traders Hotel, Shangri-La's lower tier brand, so essentially 50% off the best available rate or less than S$100 per night before ++. Criticism on tripadvisor is that the rooms are tiny (only 300 sq ft) but the location isn't bad and it's hard to beat that rate.
If anyone is interested, I think tomorrow is the last day to make bookings at Traders across the region.
Booking promotion code is traders21 or do a google search.

Hi, I'll be working in Singapore for a couple of months from November through to January. My place of work will be at Centennial Tower, Temasek Ave. Apart from the Somerset properties, can anyone offer suggestions on serviced accomodation (one-bedroom) which would allow me to do my own laundry as well occasional cooking? My budget is S$220/night.
